The boss of John Lewis and supermarket chain Waitrose has said the UK is facing double-digit inflation as the war in Ukraine exacerbates the rising cost of living, with prices in the supply chain and on shelves rising.
The forecast by Sharon White, chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, comes with inflation in the UK, which is already at its highest point in 30 years, at 5.5%, and is expected to rise to almost 8% in April, when household energy bills will rise by hundreds of pounds.
