Leeds couple’s social distanced wedding in pictures as guests attend romantic ceremony

A couple from Leeds were among the first people in the UK to say their vows since lockdown restrictions were eased to allow weddings to resume.

People all over the country have been forced to either cancel or delay their big day as Covid-19 saw churches and wedding venues close for more than three months.

However, Tom Hall and Heather McLaren got hitched yesterday (Saturday) at St George’s Church in Leeds city centre – and the pictures below show how vastly different it was to a normal wedding.

The newlyweds had to follow a number of strict new rules, which meant that they were not allowed more than 30 guests, singing was prohibited and they had to even wash their hands before exchanging rings.

The images below reveal how their wedding was unlike any other seen before, with taped-off areas on the floor and the handful of guests stood well apart from one another.

The wedding of Tom Hall and Heather McLaren, at St George’s Church, Leeds, as weddings are once again permitted to take place in England, with ceremonies capped at a maximum of 30 guests.
