Liz Truss, who is about to take over from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Britain, will not offer former finance minister Rishi Sunak a role in her cabinet, The Guardian reports based on sources around Truss. Sunak was Truss ‘ main rival for the Conservative Party leadership.
Sunak said earlier on Monday that he would not accept a ministerial job from Truss.
“It’s just not something I think about,” Sunak told the BBC when asked.
Within hours of Truss being declared the winner of the race, Priti Patel said she was stepping down as interior minister. Suella Braverman, currently the government’s attorney general, is expected to take over Patel’s post. Thérèse Coffey, the current Minister of work and Pensions, will presumably become minister of Health under Truss.
