Lidl suffers a defeat on the British soil, although not the devastating one

Lidl suffers a loss of over €15 million in the United Kingdom for the year 2019-2020. According to the discount, this is due to investments in employees, 51 new shops, logistics and the supply chain.

The British branch of Lidl invested € 737 million in the year 2019-2020, which ended on 29 February 2020. The turnover is € 7.7 billion. The discounter states that a record number of people visited Lidl stores.

Lidl and Aldi have made an advance in the British supermarket world in recent years. It made sure that the established chains, like Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda, turned in sales.
